Description

Join the Anime Club to discuss and watch anime that students have voted on. Each week students put in their suggestions that correspond to a theme that members decide on each month. Other activities include trivia, karaoke, a jukebox, discussion on manga, and anime tier lists! Join us in our exploration of the Japanese animation and manga industry!

Champlain College Dance Team

Description

The Champlain College Dance Team is a fun way for students to dance in college without the pressure of tryouts. We work on many fun and unique projects during the year and experiment with different dance styles. At the end of the year, there is an opportunity to perform at the annual Champlain College Dance Team (CCDT) Showcase, with original choreography from our members. We strive to have a positive and safe environment for everyone to be in their bodies comfortably while dancing.

Champlain College Esports: Splatoon

Description

CCE Splatoon is a part of the Champlain College Esports club. We compete in CCA (Collegiate Cephalopod Association), the largest collegiate Splatoon league in the US. We also host community outreach events for Splatoon and Non-Splatoon players.

Champlain Destiny

Description

The Champlain Destiny Club is an inclusive place for fans of the game “Destiny 2” to talk about and enjoy the game with fellow students. Over the semester, we host many events ranging from raid nights to in-game fashion contests on our discord server and sometimes in person. Our club is open to anyone of any skill level, and we are always happy to accept and meet new members!

Description

The FGC Champs club focuses on building a community on campus with a shared love for fighting games. Whether you have just picked up the controller or played all your life, everyone is welcome here! Champlain Film Society

Description

Champlain Film Society allows students of all majors and years to connect and collaborate through a shared love of filmmaking. We provide equipment demos, guest speakers, and screening events as a way to build community among our members that will support them throughout their time at Champlain. Champlain Film Society also hosts the Semi-Annual Chauncey Awards, a hybrid screening and award show event, that gives students the opportunity to screen their work at the end of each semester.

The Champlain Lego club strives to bring a safe, welcoming environment to the Champlain College campus by using the wonderful world of Legos. Description

The Production Club brings together students from several majors to produce a variety of video and audio content. We work on students’ passion projects that may fall outside the curriculum of classes. We also shoot videos for several local businesses to use on their websites and social media.

Champlain Wargaming Club

Description

Greetings Loyal Imperial Citizen and welcome to the Champlain Wargaming Club! Our club is dedicated to all things tabletop wargaming, with a heavy focus on Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. Crusades, painting nights, campaigns, skirmishes, and strategy theorycrafting are just a handful of the things we offer. Don’t have an army? Don’t know how to play? We have you covered! Learning the games with starter armies will help to ease you into wargaming. Will you join the loyal forces of the God-Emperor? Fight against them within the traitorous armies of Chaos? Chivomengro

Description

Chivomengro aims to publish a monthly zine of personal essays, satire, and cultural commentary. The staff loves to include graphically driven pieces, such as comics or graphic literature, that speak to the college experience.

Chivomengro stays true to its commitment to the writer—contributors have the freedom to submit what they want. The editorial team takes great pride in publishing essays on the human experience, including reviews of pop culture, music, movies, and satire pieces. Chivomengro highly encourages submissions from Champlain College students and remains open for reading on a rolling basis.

Darkroom Photography Club

Description

The Darkroom Club offers the student body an accessible way to explore the increasingly rare medium of analog photography. This club will introduce students to our beloved darkroom and teach them how to shoot, develop, and print their own photographs. In addition to the analog process, the Darkroom Club will host photo critiques, helping students sharpen their photographic eye.

Description

The Design Club is a place for students from any major to connect with others who have an interest in graphic design. We’ll engage in group and individual project activities, peer review critiques on personal and academic projects, go on occasional trips to local design companies and art galleries, and invite industry professional guest speakers. Los Dormant Volcanoes Improv Troupe

Description

We are Champlain College’s Improv Troupe! We hold auditions once per academic year near the start of the fall semester. Our style of improv performance is short-form comedy games. Troupe members are given prompts by the audience, and then we create hilarious scenes to watch and be a part of. We perform a few times a semester, so keep an eye out for our posters!

Motion Magic

Description

Motion Magic is a student-run club that aims to create a dedicated and inviting space for animation majors to learn and grow together. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an expert animator, we’re open to students from any background. The Motion Magic club focus on providing a sense of community and support so that you can have your questions answered and complete your assignments. We will also have fun activities, such as movie nights or trips that help us build connections with one another.

The Champlayers

Description

We are a completely student-run theater club that produces a show each semester. We are an audition-based club, but we also have positions in tech and encourage students to join our discord to keep informed about what opportunities we have open! Auditions are held early in the semester, rehearsals are twice a week and tech crew meets once a week before tech week. We do not perform musicals.

The Grind

Description

The Grind is an open mic coffee house that provides a safe space for people to express themselves through performance. The audience can relax, meet new people, and spend time with friends. Every Wednesday from 8:30-11:30 PM in Fireside Lounge, there is a player’s sheet; it’s first to sign-up, first to play. We have a sound system and an electric piano for acoustic music. There’s always snacks/coffee available. Our goals are to provide a safe environment for creative expression and creative community and to create an environment that develops and nurtures our performers.

Willard & Maple

Description

Willard & Maple is the oldest running student publication on campus. Champlain’s student-run literary magazine, publishes annual issues that feature visual art, poetry, short fiction, and nonfiction each year. Its mission is to broadcast the diverse and powerful voices in the Champlain community out to the world.

Willard & Maple is a small but mighty board of editors coming from all majors at Champlain College. We meet throughout the year to review and critique creative work submitted anonymously by other students. At the end of the year, we compile all of the edited pieces into a professionally printed and published literary and fine arts magazine.

Willard & Maple accepts submissions from the Champlain community. Guidelines for submissions are on its website, as is a link to W&M’s Submittable page. Willard & Maple staff engage in a democratic voting process to determine acceptances.

The Willard & Maple office is not a traditional college-magazine workplace. Students completely take charge of the editorial process, and the review board for submissions is entirely composed of young writers. Nobody’s here to pour coffee and punch copy.
