Biography

Rachel joined Champlain College team in 2017. She is a Graduate of Champlain College with an Accounting degree. Prior coming to Champlain, she worked at Vermont Student Assistance for almost 30 years.

She works with both the Housing and Residential team and the Counseling team. She enjoys working with students and making them comfortable in both areas.

Kelsey O’Connor

Biography

Kelsey O’Connor currently serves as the Director of Residential Life & Student Engagement at Champlain College. A 2014 Champlain graduate with a BS in Event Management, Kelsey has dedicated her career to enhancing the student experience at her alma mater, where she has worked since 2015. Throughout her time at Champlain, she has held multiple roles, from Associate Director of Student Engagement to Area Coordinator, gaining a broad perspective on student activities and residential life. She also holds a Master of Science in Executive Leadership from Champlain College 365体育官网.

Originally from Bedford, Massachusetts, Kelsey moved to Vermont to attend Champlain and fell in love with the state’s vibrant community. Outside of work, she enjoys kayaking and spending time with her two golden retrievers, Maple and Frankie.

Rachel Sayward

Biography

Rachel joined the Housing and Residential Life team as an Area Coordinator in August 2024. In her role as an AC, she oversees several of the beautiful Victorian mansions on campus and with the help of her amazing team of Resident Advisors. Rach loves living on campus, breaking bread with her students, visiting the mansions for her RAs’ programs, and supporting students throughout their college experience. She hopes every eager Champlain beaver takes advantage of their time on campus to live life to the fullest, having fun at campus events and savoring all that 365体育官网 has to offer!

Before landing at Champlain College, she hopscotched around northern New England. Born in Massachusetts but soul-tied to Maine, she attended Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire, where she studied psychology. During her time at FPU, she was a cheerleader, participated in Student Government, and most importantly, served her peers as a Community Assistant (Resident Advisor). After graduation, Rach moved to Vermont to work at Castleton University as an Area Coordinator. At Castleton, she primarily supported first-year students and oversaw gender-inclusive housing. A few years later, feeling a tug in her heart, she moved back to Maine to work at Husson University as a Resident Director. While it was fun to be back in Maine, Rach felt the Green Mountains of Vermont calling to her. Luckily, Champlain welcomed her back to Vermont with open arms!!

When Rach is not in her office or wandering campus, she can often be found crocheting one of her many projects. She loves to spend time with her two cats, Birch and Barbeque; they keep her great company while working on her book club’s next read! Folks walking through Finney Quad may spot her perched in her hammock while reading or crocheting in the sunshine. In the warmth of summer, Rach also loves to go for a swim with the help of her prized possession, a Vermont state park pass!

Crocheting, reading, swimming, and watching films at the cinema!

Favorite Local Eateries and Things to do in Vermont

Yates Family Orchard in Hinesburg for their Dreamees- a hot cider donut and creemee soft serve! The Village Scoop in Colchester or Judi’s in Williston for a sweet ice cream treat!

Boba tea from the Always Full Market on Church Street, Muddy Waters on Main Street for a maple iced latte, and Kountry Kart Deli (also on Main!) for a delish steak and cheese! McGillicuddy’s is also becoming a fast favorite of mine!

My favorite swimming spots throughout Vermont include Branbury State Park, Bomoseen State Park, Lake St Catherine State Park, and Camp Plymouth State Park!

Frankie Burch

Biography

Frankie Burch currently works as an Area Coordinator in House and Residential Life, where they work with first-year and upper-year students, as well as overseeing the upper-year gender inclusive community. They enjoy supporting students in every aspect of their college experience and can been seen working with their resident advisors (RAs), meeting with students to discuss their needs, working with the Women’s and Gender Center, overseeing the physical condition of the residence halls in their area, teaching Champ101 Courses (a class that introduces students to college and helps them learn to navigate a new environment), collaborating with campus partners, and more!

Frankie grew up near Bar Harbor, Maine and graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington in 2019 with a degree in English Literature and a minor in International & Global Studies. After working as a Resident Advisor throughout their undergraduate experience, Frankie decided to continue working in Student Affairs after graduating. They then accepted a Community Coordinator position with Denison University in central Ohio.

During their time in Ohio, Frankie learned that they loved supporting students in navigating their college experience. While working with students of all grades, Frankie most enjoyed working with first-year students, and found joy in helping these students adjust to college life while finding their authentic selves. Finding that they missed the Northern Woods, they moved back to Maine in 2021, and then took a job with Champlain College.

Frankie loves the beauty of the Green Mountain State, the kindness of their colleagues at Champlain, and the indescribable passion of Champlain students! Frankie is continuing their educational journey and pursuing a graduate degree in English Literature at the University of Vermont.

I love exploring the different mountains and waterways of Vermont! My favorite local eateries are Mr. Mike’s Pizza, Goku Ramen, and Four Quarters Brewing!

Fay

Biography

Fay obtained their bachelor’s degree in psychology from Saint Michael’s College and an MFA in Emergent Media from Champlain College where they worked as a project management fellow for two years. While pursuing their education, Fay also worked as a YouTuber, Twitch.tv live streamer, & esports commentator. In January of 2018, Fay moved to Akron in order to design, implement, and manage the new esports program at the University of Akron as well as serve as the head coach of their newly formed varsity teams. Fay also built, opened, and managed the Esports Center at Rutgers University from 2019 until 2021. In 2022, Fay sought to bring their passion for student development to bear for Champlain College and its Esports Living Learning community.

Ian Fournier

Biography

Ian started at Champlain College in July 2017 as an Area Coordinator. In this role, Ian oversaw leadership skill development opportunities on campus through offerings such as Emerging Leaders, Lead like a Beaver, and the National Society of Leadership and Success.

Ian began serving Housing and Residential Life as an Assistant Director in July 2022. In this role, Ian oversees the Resident Advisor program on campus which includes hiring and training RAs for Main Campus and 194 Saint Paul.

Zachary Harrison

Biography

Zach Harrison currently serves as the Associate Director for Housing Operations at Champlain College. He has a Bachelors Degree from East Carolina and a Masters Degree from Eastern Michigan University. In his role as Associate Director, Zach oversees all housing systems and processes. Some of these processes include housing selection, room changes, damage billing, housing transition, new student housing assignments, etc.
